- অতীতকালে দুটি কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়ে থাকলে তাদের মাঝে যেটি আগে ঘটেছিল সেটি Past Perfect Tense হয় এবং যেটি পরে ঘটেছিল সেটি Past Indefinite Tense হয়। [(Past Indefinite Tense is used in the former action between two completed action of past) (Simple past is used in the later action)]
Sentence structure:
[Subject + had + Past participle of Verb + Object (যদি থাকে)]
- আমি বাড়ি আসার পূর্বে নীলিমা চলে গেল = Nilima had gone out before I came home.
- আমি ষ্টেশনে পৌঁছার পূর্বে ট্রেনটি ছাড়িয়া গেল = The train had started before I reached the station.
- ঘন্টা পড়ার পূর্বে তাহারা স্কুলে পৌছাইল = They had reached the school before the bell rang.
- বিছানায় শুতে যাওয়ার পূর্বে আমি দরজা বন্ধ করলাম = I had shut the door before I got into bed.
- ডাক্তার আসিবার পূর্বে রোগীটি মারা গেল = The patient had died before the doctor came. or The doctor came after the patient had died.
- ডাক্তার আসিবার পরে রোগীটি মারা গেল = The patent died after the doctor had came. or The doctor had came before the patient died.
*Note: বাক্যের দুটি অংশ ‘before’ বা ‘after’ দ্বারা যুক্ত হলে ‘before' এর পূর্বে এবং ‘after' এর পরে Past Perfect Tense হয় এবং অন্যটিতে Simple Past হয়। আবার 'when' দিয়েও বাক্যের দুটি অংশ যুক্ত হলে আগের কাজটি Past Perfect Tense হয়।
